Narok County Woman Representative Soipan Tuya has announced that she is not going to defend her seat in the August 9, polls.

In a statement released on Saturday, the woman MP said it is time for another Narok woman to lead.

"It is a lifetime honour! Being an Affirmative Action position and 10 years office, I believe it's time for the next Narok woman to build her leadership and political muscle through this position," she said in a statement on Facebook.

MP Tuya expressed her gratitude to the people of Narok for giving her the opportunity to serve them.

Soipan joins the list of a few MPs who have declared that they will not run for an elective seat in the August 9, polls.

Among them include Kisumu Senator Fred Outa who said she has taken a break from vying.

Mumias East MP Ben Washiali also said he will not vie and pledged to focus on campaigning for deputy president William Ruto's presidency.

Tuya had expressed interest in the governor seat on a UDA party ticket.

Negotiated democracy saw her step down for former Labour CAS Patrick Ole Ntutu who will be flying the Wheelbarrow party ticket.
