Residents who use Nguni-Nuu road in Mwingi Central are asking the MP to intervene and ensure the contractor finishes the road.
Nuu MCA Alex Musili said the road was launched in July 2017 and so far, only 20kms have been tarmacked.
Musili said the contractor has vacated the site, leaving 15kms unattended.
He said they had issued a 14-day ultimatum for work to resume or the contractor to withdraw and spread the heaps of soil on the roadside.
"If the contractor doesn’t resume, we are going to peacefully demonstrate and tell the President our predicaments," Musili said.
He said the heaps of sand have made the road narrow, causing accidents.
Musyoki Musya, a boda boda rider, said the section of the road that has been left untarmacked has been a deathtrap to many.
"We have lost numerous boda boda operators on this road due to the heaps of soil on the roadside," he said.
Musya said MP Gideon Mulyungi should step in and ensure the road is completed.
The 35km road, which traverses Mwingi Central through Mutitu and Zombe will promote agriculture.
It will also make it easier for residents to access health facilities like Mwingi Level 4 Hospital as the area is prone to cases of snakebites.
Another resident, Sammy Kisee, said the corrugation on the road is punishing small cars plying the area.
He wondered whether the construction work didn’t have a timeline, saying leaders should push for its completion.
