An aspirant for a big job from the Mt Kenya region with a new party in town is an unhappy man. He is said to be shedding members at an alarming rate. His own brother abandoned him and joined the Jubilee Party. A woman Representative hopeful he thought would work with him has also joined Jubilee. The fellow has fallen out with his younger brother who is eyeing an MP seat. Corridors of Power is told that the man has now sponsored a campaign to smear his brother for joining the ruling party to shield himself from some 'crime'. The party is now issuing direct tickets to salvage itself.

A senior state official has been called out for what appears to be an attempt to bootlick those in authority. It has been observed that the man has held more activities in the backyard of one of the powers that be than he has in other areas. Those concerned say it was time the officer ventured to other destinations to meet the needs of the residents of those places. His accusers say the trips are slowly becoming proof of the partiality that has rocked the institution he heads as some areas seem totally ignored.

A governor aspirant from Western Kenya recently endorsed by his party was enthralled by the approval but the excitement now seems to be over. A close friend of the politician tells Corridors of Power the governor hopeful has just realised that he has no say in picking his running mate. Already, three names have been floated by top party officials as possible choices. None of his preferred people made it to the list. The man was overheard saying the party’s decision to pick a running mate makes him feel like he is going through a forced marriage.

Still in Western, an incumbent MP allied to a popular party is now playing dirty tricks to block a competitor from the ballot because he threatens his return to Parliament. The lawmaker, after realising how fast his stakes were waning, has resorted to underhand tactics, some involving security agencies. The man has been visiting the region’s court registry with a view to reviving cases that may have been filed against his rival. With the ground having shifted, he is working hard for the EACC and IEBC to block the aspirant during the registration of candidates for the August vote.
