The interview approach is fattening Kalonzo, giving him the clout and moment to galvanise his base. He will be given the ticket.
The moment the interviews will be called off and Kalonzo is given the ticket, all Kambas will be told, 'this thing was going and you fought for it and we have given you, now vote Kalonzo and Odinga to the last man'.
All other people from Mt Kenya are being given an exit strategy: that they never lost the running mate position because of anything, so that they will blame the interviewers not Raila.
Strategically, Raila is distancing himself from blame, so that 'it is not me who said Peter Kenneth, Sabina Chege or Peter Munya cannot run'.
That is the politics of the interviews. They are not normal but a selfish tool for Raila and Uhuru to blame a third party for the failure of the nominated leaders.
To me, this is a smokescreen to confuse and cheat the Kenya Kwanza people. Remember the Ruto team has wasted time campaigning for Kalonzo for running mate, while Raila and Uhuru are doing the work.
Immediately Kenya Kwanza realised this was a smokescreen they abandoned the narrative and have gone to do their campaigns in Bungoma. So, this to me is a perfect Machiavelli principle of politics of deceit, hoodwinking people and appearing weak meanwhile you are strengthening your political base.
Of all the people mentioned on the list, only one has votes while the others do not have any constituency.
Kalonzo is the only one with a constituency. Kenneth, Sabina, Karua and Munya, if they have any constituency, if there is any vote, it is Uhuru who will bring votes for Raila.
Ngilu only has a small constituency in her county. She has to survive as governor first.
For Gideon Moi, his constituency has been locked up by DP Ruto. So, in my view, there is no fallout in the interviews. The only fallout would be if Kalonzo is not named.
It's like Raila has six girlfriends interested in him. No man can allow a panel to interview who is going to be his girlfriend.
