Slain KMC student Wangeci dreamt of being Tik Tok queen

Her teachers, led by the institution's leadership called for justice for her blood.

Slain broadcast journalism student Purity Wangeci had a burning ambition to be a Tik Tok queen.

Her friend's only prayer on Thursday was that someone hands her a Tik Tok account in her new life.

Always a jovial and ambitious young lady with the aspiration to make a name from Tik Tok artwork, Wangeci's plan for life got cut short in a controversy of love.

She did ad-lib on the app and posted songs and humour on it.

For her kin like Elizabeth Karenga who did not know how to use the application, Wangeci had them download it and train them on how to use it.

Her friends said she had hoped to make a name out of the art. Sad that she won't live to see the fame.

She was a first-year broadcast journalism student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. She had just joined it last October.

The students at the institutions organized a remembrance service in her honour on Thursday in preparation for her burial on Saturday.

One of her friends Tom Dagwa said that they were in class together with her last Friday, May 13 which ended at 11 am.

She bid her friend bye for the weekend, looking to meet again the following Monday. This was not to be.

According to her close friends that spoke to the Star, Wangeci seemed to be anxious to plunge into the merry of the weekend. 

Police have said that from school, she was accompanied by her friends to NTSA offices to collect her driving license.

She then went to Kiambu to meet her boyfriend. An investigation has indicated that they had some conflict and she was out to confront him. 

It reported that it is the ensuing passion that saw her lose her life. Her body was later collected in a thicket bearing stab wounds and signs of strangulation. 

Four people, including the said boyfriend, have been taken to police custody for questioning and arraigning. 

She was described as a fair-voiced singer who warmed the hearts of her colleagues with her performance during student Karaokes.

And per the eulogy read on behalf of her three roommates, Wangeci was always complaining on Friday that she was sleepy. They didn't know she'd go to sleep forever.

" When you complained of being sleepy, we didn't know that it was this deep sleep (of death) from which you will never wake up," they said.

Patricia Alwang'a, the leader of the students association said they will miss her lovely singing and friendly personality.
