The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya on Wednesday called upon the serving state officials to keep off political activities.
Led by their chairperson, Bishop David Oginde, the Alliance urged all commissions and authorities including IEBC, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), Office of the Register of Political Parties, Office of the DPP, NPS, and the Judiciary to adhere to the rule of law.
"We call upon them to join together and work towards executing their mandates with honor and impartiality," he said.
He also urged them to refrain from taking political sides in the ongoing campaigns.
Referring to Article 75 of the Constitution, Oginde pleaded with government officials not to engage in politics.
The aforementioned Article loosely dictates that any government official should avoid any conflicting or compromising situation in both their public and private lives.
The Alliance Secretary General Nelson Makanda requested the Electoral Commission to be haste in resolving the ongoing candidate nomination challenges.
He congratulated the Commission for working to make sure all candidates are attended to and satisfied to run in the August 9, general polls.
"We want a peaceful and united Kenya, Corruption free and God-fearing nationals, freedom of expression, and an undivided Kenya," Makanda said.
He added that the citizens are praying for a nation with faithful and honest leaders who do not use their young people for personal gain.
"They want a democratic, free, and fair elections."
The Secretary-General noted that some of the things Kenyans do not want are corruption in public offices and in churches, violence, and trauma of post-election violence.
The EAK further urged all registered voters to evaluate the different candidates and prepare to elect those who represent their aspirations.
"We urge you to vet all candidates not for their tribes and hefty pockets, but for their good character and ability to lead your ward, constituency, county, and our country towards a shared prosperity."
