DP William Ruto on Sunday promised to transform the creative industry when elected the president.
Ruto who met artists in Karen said he has good plans for the industry.
“We have a comprehensive plan to transform the creative industry to create jobs and opportunities for our talented youth,” he said.
“We urge the youth to support that plan by voting for Kenya Kwanza.”
Ruto said this as he met artists Jeshi Jinga (Shembeteng), Kartelo, Modesto, Iano Ranking and Tana Legends Music Group, Karen, Nairobi.
In his manifesto, Ruto promises to work in tandem with relevant stakeholders to expand the local creative space by investing in infrastructure such as theatres, music halls and art galleries.
"I will work with stakeholders to identify the incentives, capacity building and other support required from the State to scale up cultural production and the creative economy," he said.
"I will also mainstream the creative economy in Brand Kenya and commercial diplomacy, including appointing accomplished Kenyan artists and creative sector personalities as cultural ambassadors."
The deputy president said he also intends to market the arts and crafts sectors both locally and abroad.
On Film, Ruto promised to ascent the Creative Economy Bill into law during his first 100 days in office.
