2020 KCPE, KCSE certificates ready for collection

Candidates who sat their national examinations in the year 2020 have been advised to pick their certificates.

Kenya National Examinations Council sent out a statement asking the candidates to visit their respective schools.

"The 2020 KCPE and KCSE certificates have already been delivered to schools," the statement reads.

The council advised students who find any issues to visit the KNEC portal for queries.

"In case of any non-conformity, queries should be logged through KNEC Query Management Information System(QMIS)," the statement reads.

The exams were administered in March 2021 following the disruption of the school calendar by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Female candidates from public schools topped the KCPE 2020 exam.

Faith Mumo emerged top with 433 marks. She is from Kari Mwailu Primary School in Makueni county.

Nanzala Wesonga from Chogoria Girls Primary School was the second-best candidate with 432 marks.

Angel Murithi was the third best student, scoring 431 marks. She tied with Samuel Wanyonyi.

8,091 candidates scored above 400 marks, 282,000 scored between 300 to 399 marks and 589,000 scored 200 to299 marks.

The top candidate in KCSE was Robinson Wanjala from Murang'a High who got an A of 87.334, followed by Allan Wasonga  (87.173) from Agoro Sare High School.

While releasing results, Education CS George Magoha said that 893 students scored As in the 2020 exam, compared to 627 recorded in 2019.

The CS also said that Turkana county had the highest number of overage candidates.

Bungoma had the highest number of underage candidates. Underage candidates are those aged 16 years and below.

Those who scored C+ and above were just over 143,000.
