Incoming Kenya Army commander Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru is welcomed inside the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi on August 8,2022.

Lieutenant General Walter Koipaton has officially handed over the mandate of the Kenya Army Commander to Lieutenant Gen. Peter Njiru.

The handover ceremony was held at Ngao Garden at the Kenya Army Headquarters on Monday.

"I'm joining a working system and will continue with the same trajectory Kenya Army has been following under the leadership of General Koipaton," Gen. Njiru said.

General Koipaton has served since July 13, 2018.

He said he will be retiring to his family, urging the Force members to embrace integrity.

"I urge you, to take care of your family because as you leave service, they will be the only people who will be with you," the outgoing Commander said.
