Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi has secured a second term in office after trouncing opponents in the parliamentary poll held Tuesday.
Alego Usonga constituency Returning Officer George Jobando on Wednesday evening announced that Atandi had won the seat after garnering 69,129 votes.
Former MP George Muluan of DAP-K came a distant second with 14,624 votes.
Independent candidates Sospeter Opondo and Joseph Mukwana got 2,079 and 581 votes respectively.
Atandi's win successfully breaks the one-term jinx that has characterised the Alego Usonga MP seat since time immemorial.
At the same time, the presidential ballot in the constituency produced Raila Odinga as the winner with 85,301 votes and William Ruto as the second with 865.
George Luchiri Wajackoya was declared third with 166 votes and Waihiga Mwaure with 40 votes.
Spoilt votes totalled up to 546 in an election that saw a 71 per cent voter turnout.
In total, 86,413 votes were cast in the constituency out of a possible 122,002 in the voter register.
