IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has laughed off the slow pace at which mainstream media is tallying presidential results.

The polls agency boss said the media should be close to finishing the tallying, with 97 per cent of the forms having been submitted.

"You should be at 97 per cent. Maybe you were not prepared," he said.

This was even as he cautioned Kenyans against relying on social media postings as official results of the election.

"Results for MP and MCAs are declared at the constituency. Constituency returning officers are finalising the declarations."

The IEBC chairman said the bigwigs who have conceded may be doing so because the process was transparent.

"This is a transparent process. This could be the reason they are conceding," Chebukati said.
