Get to know IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera

She is among four IEBC Commissioners who rejected the presidential results.

Juliana Whonge Cherera who is the current IEBC vice-chairperson has been the talk of town for a few days after together with three other Commissioners rejected the presidential election results terming them opaque.

The other commissioners are; Irene Cherop, Justus Abonyo and Francis Wanderi.

They all casted doubts on the last process before the declaration of the results. 

Juliana was among commissioners appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to fill the vacant positions at the poll agency on September 2021 and names were gazetted.

This followed a rigorous recruitment exercise that saw hundred of Kenyans miss out on the four slots.

She was sworn in by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, on September 14, 2021 alongside the other three.

More about Juliana:

Julina was born in Mombasa County. She holds a Master of Education, Leadership and Educational Management from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU)

She also holds a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University, specialising in Geography and Kiswahili.

Cherera also studied Project Management at Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) at KNEC, Strategic Leadership and Development Program at Kenya School of Government (KSG).

She also undertook a Senior Management Course (SMC) while still at KSG.

She started her career as a school teacher and took over 18 years of experience in management sectors and education.

Juliana has also worked as a Chief officer in Mombasa County government at the strategic delivery unit.

According to her resume, Cherera also holds membership of the Kenya Devolution Support Program committee. 

She also chairs the Voter Education, Partnerships and Stakeholders Engagement Committee.

However, details of her private life remain unknown to the public.
