Russia's Putin congratulates President-elect Ruto

Foreign countries and leaders have continued to congratulate Ruto on his win, as  President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to stay silent on the issue.

Russia has joined other state in congratulating President -elect William Ruto on his victory in the just concluded polls.

Through the its embassy, Russia said it was looking forward to continuing and further developing comprehensive  and mutually beneficial cooperation with Kenya.

"The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kenya  has the honour to congratulate H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto upon the announcement of him being elected  as President of Kenya," reads the statement .

Russia stated that they are confident that the friendly  relations between out two countries and people will be reinvigorated and further strengthened.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday after some fracas at Bomas of Kenya tallying centre declared Ruto as the president- elect.

Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49 percent of the total vote, while his rival, Raila Odinga got 6,942,930, which was 48.85 per cent of the vote.

However, Raila’s chief agent Kanchory Saitabao accused the IEBC and chairman Wafula Chebukati of tampering and tinkering with election results.

As Chebukati was making the announcement, four IEBC commissioners were at Serena Hotel, where they disputed the presidential election results.
