FAKE: Ex-MP Mishra has not withdrawn any scholarship

Social media reports that outgoing Kesses MP Swarup Kiprop Mishra withdrew scholarships for 300 students are fake.

The fake reports generated lots of buzz on social media with Kenyans from all walks of life giving mixed reactions.

Those who widely shared the fake claims said the outgoing MP did so after losing his parliamentary seat in the August 9, elections.

Fact-checker has however debunked the narrative and established the claims are misleading.

The outgoing MP has denied doing so and labelled such statements as incorrect.

While reacting to one such fake report, Mishra said:

"This is utterly incorrect and in bad taste."

Mishra served the Kesses constituency from 2017 to 2022. He lost his seat to UDA candidate and Uasin Gishu County official Julius Ruto. 

He vied on an independent ticket.

Kesses is in Uasin Gishu county, a perceived political bastion of President-elect William Ruto.
