Nakuru county commissioner Erastus Mbui and his Uasin Gishu counterpart Stephen Kihara who came under sharp criticism during Kenya Kwanza campaigns have been transferred.

Also affected is Trans-Nzoia’s Samson Ojwang who were all accused by President-elect William Ruto of being behind a scheme to intimidate voters and stir chaos in Rift valley ahead of the concluded elections.

Ruto's statement came in the backdrop of allegations that hate leaflets had been circulated in the region targeting particular communities.

It was still unclear as to why the administrators were transferred happening a few days after the polls.

“Having realized they can’t win this election, they want to disrupt. They want to cause conflict and that is why we are calling on state agencies and the international community to speak to this matter,” Ruto said during a press conference in Karen.

He added:

“Chiefs and county commissioners are being forced with threats and blackmail of losing of their jobs if they do not become Azimio operatives.”

In a circular seen dated August 23 to all Regional Commissioners, Mbui will head to Kitui, Kihara to Embu as Ojwang relocates to Busia.

“The officers should be released to report to their new stations immediately,” read the notice from the Ministry of Interior and coordination of the national government.

Bomet’s Beverly Opwora who is just a few months old in the county has been affected and will head to Makueni and be replaced by Ahmed Omar Ahmed from Busia.

Mathias Rioba who is currently stationed in Kitui is set to assume his roles in Trans-Nzoia as Eddyson Nyale moves to Uasin Gishu.

Gilbert Kitiyo becomes the new Nakuru county commissioner.
