Recruitment of NYS officers postponed over Monday polls

National Youth Service has rescheduled recruitment dates following the August 9 polls in some areas.

NYS director general Matilda Sakwa, in a statement, said the recruitment will take place on September 3.

"This will enable us to forestall any conflicts that might arise with the political process during the elections that will be conducted on the same date," Sakwa said.

The affected areas include Kakamega, Kitui and West Pokot.

Recruitment in Kakamega will be at Likuyani (Kongoni primary school) and Lurambi(Bhukungu stadium).

In Kitui, the process will take place in Lower Yatta (St. Luke Secondary School, Kyusami).

"In West Pokot, recruitment will be at South Pokot, Kibichbich (St. Kizito Primary School, Lelan," she said. 

This is after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) decided to conduct elections in areas where the polls were postponed in the concluded general election.

The election will be held on Monday after the commission postponed the exercise twice.

IEBC suspended Mombasa and Kakamega gubernatorial elections.

The commission also suspended elections in four constituencies including, Pokot South, Kitui Rural, Rongai, and Kacheliba.
