Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has revealed details on a phone conversation with the United Nations secretary general António Guterres.

Raila said he got a call on Thursday from Guterres and they talked about the developments in the country.

"I informed him on the happenings and I also briefed him on the outcome of the general elections and the processes we have initiated to get satisfactory solutions to this problem," Raila said.

He was addressing the press at Upper hill Nairobi when he said that Guterres was grateful for how Kenyans conducted the elections peacefully.

"I assured him that Kenya's democracy must mature and that we are determined to pursue legal and constitutional means to resolve the disputes over the decision by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to try to hijack our victory," Raila said.

He added that he also briefed him on regional stability and he assured him that Kenya will still contribute to the region.

He mentioned that the region is making progress to deal with the threat of terrorism and ensure stability.

Raila had filed a petition on Monday to the Supreme Court challenging the election results which saw William Ruto declared president-elect.

The court Apex has 14 days to determine the verdict of the case.

Raila has continuously urged Kenyans to maintain peace and remain calm as the Supreme Court conducts petition hearings.
