Security has been beefed up at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) in Mombasa where the IEBC county tallying centre is situated.
Only authorised persons and IEBC-accredited journalists were allowed access to the centre.
Police had a hard time mobilising crowds as ODM leaders led by outgoing Mombasa governor Hassan Joho made their entrance.
Joho was accompanied by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, John Mbadi (Gwasii), Naisula Leisuda (Samburu), Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Memusi Kanchori (Kajiado Central), Rashid Bedzimba (Kisauni) among a host of leaders.
Mombasa IEBC returning officer Swalha Yusuf is expected to announce the official results of the Mombasa governor elections that were conducted on Monday.
So far, result from three constituencies, Nyali, Changamwe and Likoni have been announced with three more to go.
Provisional results from the six constituency tallying centres show that ODM candidate Abdulswamad Nassir is leading.
Nassir is poised to be declared Mombasa governor after garnering 119,083 votes.
His main challenger, Hassan Omar of UDA garnered 98, 108 votes.
The results are yet to be officially been declared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Tallying and verification are still ongoing at the Kenya School of Government.
