Mwenje unveils plan to upgrade roads in Embakasi West

Embakasi West Member of Parliament - elect, Mark Muriithi Mwenje, has launched a road upgrading exercise in the constituency barely days after assuming office.

Mwenje unveiled his plan while conducting a delegation of engineers and inspectors on a tour of the constituency on Thursday.

The team, drawn from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA), visited the designated sites in all four wards, namely Umoja I, Umoja II, Mowlem and Uhuru/Kariobangi South.

“I've already invited a working team of engineers and inspectors from KERRA to undertake a site visit in the entire Embakasi West Constituency for a preliminary review, mapping, planning and scheduling for roads infrastructure projects,” Mwenje said.

The MP highlighted the roads earmarked for construction in the initial phase of the exercise.

The roads upgrade program will cover Innercore, Tena, Umoja I, and Umoja II, Mowlem, Kwa Maji, Penyaya, KCC, Kariobangi South/ Uhuru and Civil Servant.

“A further comprehensive survey will be conducted and used to provide an accurate layout of roadways, infrastructure, stormwater drainage systems, overhead wires, surrounding houses, and other landscape features,” Mwenje said.

A first-term legislator, Mwenje pledged to forge a healthy working relationship with various leaders to steer the constituency to greater heights.

“I pledge to work very closely with the relevant roads authorities at national, county and constituency levels to ensure that infrastructure development in Embakasi West Constituency remains a priority under my leadership over the next five years.”
