French President Emmanuel Macron has become the latest World leader to congratulate President-elect William Ruto.

A statement from the French embassy states that Macron had a phone conversation with Ruto on Tuesday where he expressed his desire to strengthen the relations between the two nations.

"The president spoke by telephone with the president-elect where he expressed their desire to deepen the Franco-Kenyan relationship, within the framework of the dynamic created by the visit of the Kenyan president in 2019 and as a priority in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture and health," read the statement.

In his tour of France, outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta signed various agreements which include public private partnership for the construction of the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit highway signed between KeNHA and Vinci Concessions.

Others were for the development of the commuter railway line between Nairobi CBD to JKIA and the 400kV Menengai-Rongai electricity transmission line.

The statement stated that Macron also paid tribute to the stabilizing role of Kenya in its regional environment.

Macron, it added, insisted on France's desire to continue the cooperation in progress within the framework of the United Nations Security Council and in support of the efforts of the  African Union.

Ruto's election was affirmed by the Supreme court on Monday.

He will be sworn in to office on September 13. This is the seventh day following the court's ruling.

Other top global leaders who have joined in congratulating him are US secretary of state Anthony Blinken and UK's minister for Africa Vicky Ford among a host of other regional leaders.

"The United States and Kenya share a strong and longstanding partnership based on a commitment to democracy, security, and economic prosperity.  We look forward to enhancing this partnership with President Ruto and his new government," said Blinken on Monday.

Several leaders are expected to attend the swearing in ceremony.

In 2013, 12 sitting heads of states attended President Kenyatta's ceremony while in 2013, nine of them attended.
