ODM nominated MP John Mbadi has said Azimio is the majority party in the National Assembly.

Mbadi said he had confirmed it from the Register of Political Parties after their Kenya Kwanza colleagues claimed they had the majority numbers.

"We sought clarity from the Registrar of Political Parties on which political parties are under the Azimio and which are under Kenya Kwanza. That clarity has been given," he said while speaking outside the Parliament Building on Thursday.

"So, as it is today, I want to be very categorical that Azimio is the majority party at the National Assembly," he added.

Mbadi said it was immaterial if after three months that will still be the case.

UDM Party, which is legally a part of Azimio, decamped to UDA.

However, according to the Coalition terms, the party cannot be part of UDA until three months after the presidential elections.

Mbadi reiterated that the Raila Odinga -led Coalition has the most numbers in the 13th Parliament, urging the Kenya Kwanza members to stop boasting of their numbers.

"I just want to urge Kenya Kwanza to contend with their minority status as it is," he said.

The former Suba East MP added that the Azimio members of the Legislative will keep the government under scrutiny.

This is to ensure that the Executive delivers its mandate to Kenyans.
