Abdulswamad Nassir has been sworn into office as the second Mombasa governor.
Nassir now takes over from Hassan Ali Joho who led the county for ten years.
Nassir was sworn into the office together with his deputy Francis Foleni Thoya in an elaborate ceremony held at the Mama Ngina Waterfront Park.
The event was attended by Azimio top brass led by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
Nassir served as Mvita Mp for ten years before running for governor.
His deputy Thoya, a former Nation journalist, also served before as county secretary and Lands executive before exiting to pursue other duties outside government.
Nassir was declared winner of the Mombasa gubernatorial elections held on August 29.
He garnered 119,083 votes against his closest rival, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar of UDA who polled 98,105.
The race had attracted eight candidates.
