African Union envoy Raila Odinga has quietly arrived in the country after being away for a few days.
The ODM leader arrived in the country on Thursday and headed straight to Mombasa for a luncheon of Governor Abdulswamad Nassir at Sarova Whitesands
However, he didn't attend the swearing-in ceremony which was graced by other Azimio leaders including former Governor Hassan Joho, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya Martha Karua among others.
This is the first time he has appeared in public after William Ruto was sworn in as Kenya's fifth president.
In earlier statement, Raila said he was invited to the event but unfortunately he would be away.
"I received a letter and a telephone call from Ruto inviting me to his inauguration set for tomorrow, September 13, 2022. I regret however that I will not be available for the inauguration because I am out of the country and I also have other serious concerns," he said.
"First, I believe that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the body in charge of our elections, did not conduct a free and fair election."
