A new forecast has shown that rains will keep pounding parts of the highlands west of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.
Similar rains are also expected in central and south Rift Valley, the highlands east of the Rift Valley, north-western Kenya and the Coast.
“Occasional cold and cloudy conditions, at times, accompanied by light rains, are expected over some parts of the highlands east of the Rift Valley, the south-eastern lowlands, the highlands west of the Rift Valley and the central and south Rift Valley,” Kenya Meteorological Services Director Dr David Gikungu said in the forecast issued on Monday.
The forecast will be valid up to Saturday.
Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Transnzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot counties will receive sunny intervals in the morning of Wednesday up to Friday, the forecast has said.
Showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in the afternoons for the whole week while nights will be partly cloudy with chances over few places on Friday and Saturday nights.
The minimum temperatures in the affected counties will be nine degrees Celsius while the maximum will be 28 degrees Celsius.
In the two counties of Turkana and Samburu, sunny intervals will be experienced in the mornings and afternoons from Wednesday to Saturday.
Nights in the two counties will be partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 10 and 35 degrees Celsius.
In the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi, cloudy conditions that will break into sunny intervals will be experienced on Wednesday up to Friday.
Saturday morning will be sunny.
A chance of showers over a few places will be experienced in the 10 counties in the afternoons while nights will be partly cloudy.
The temperatures in the affected counties will be in the ranges of four degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius.
Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties are set to experience sunny intervals both in the morning and afternoon during the forecast period before paving way for partly cloudy nights.
The temperatures will be in the range of 15 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius.
Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties will experience cloudy conditions that will break into sunny intervals in the morning until Friday.
Saturday morning will be sunny.
All the afternoons will be sunny while nights will be partly cloudy.
Temperatures in the five counties will be in the ranges of 11 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius.
Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties will experience sunny mornings and afternoons.
Nights will be partly cloudy while temperatures will be in the ranges of 21 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.
