Tuesday's naming of Cabinet nominees by President William Ruto has been received with mixed reactions and high expectations from the new office holders once approved by Parliament.
Ruto unveiled his 22-member cabinet and kicked out all but one cabinet secretary in the Uhuru Kenyatta administration.
Labour CS Simon Chelugui was the only one retained and proposed for occupation of the Cooperatives and MSMEs in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
But before the dust even settles or the nominees undergo vetting, a section of leaders are already making proposals on what needs to change under the new regime.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina particularly wants the new Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, once approved, to consider changing the police uniforms.
"The Kenya Police uniforms must be changed … I don’t know what Matiangi was thinking yaani inakaa kama primary school ya China," Ledama said in a tweet Wednesday.
Ledama's calls for a change of the uniform may resonate with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's opinion.
On June 11, the DP said during Kenya Kwanza campaigns that their government would ignite drastic reforms in the police service which would include revoking the new police uniform.
Gachagua likened the new police uniform to church attire and said police officers did not like them.
He said the Kenya Kwanza regime would replace them with the old police uniform should they win the presidency.
"Even that blue uniform that you do not want will be removed and we will return the old ones. The blue ones will be given back to the PCEA church because it is the uniform that belongs to the Women's Guild," Gachagua said.
It remains unknown whether Gachagua holds the same views now that he is the Deputy President.
The uniform for general duty police officers was changed four years ago in a raft of reforms introduced in the police service by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The hitherto blue shirt/blouse and navy blue pair of trousers was phased out, paving way for the current Persian Blue uniform.
While unveiling the new garments at the Kenya School of Government on September 13, 2018, Uhuru said the uniform would make police officers more visible.
"It's important for everybody and especially the police officers to know that the Kenyan people are funding these changes so that the police can serve the people better,” Uhuru said.
Uhuru also announced a merger of the Kenya Police Service with the Administration Police to enhance efficiency.
