Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai is among the notable figures who have been shortlisted by the public service commission for the principal Secretary position.
Also sweeping the list of the 477 potential candidates are the current principal secretaries and former legislators.
They are Charles Hinga, Andrew Tuimur, Chris Kiptoo, Jerome Ochieng, Saitoti Torome, Belio Kipsang and Kevit Desai.
Others are Zeinab Hussein, Julius Jwan, Margaret Mwakima, Fred Segor and Esther Koimett.
The successful candidates, PSC said, were picked from a list of9,154 applicants that applied for the positions.
Interviews are set to be conducted beginning Wednesday next week.
"Selection interviews to fill the advertised positions in the public service will be held from October 12 to 22, 2022 following the conclusion of shortlisting of applicants by the Public Service Commission," read the statement signed by Brown Kutswa in charge of corporate communications.
It adds, "The Commission will conduct selection interviews at its head office in Nairobi and thereafter forward the list of successful candidates to His Excellency the President for consideration for appointment as Principal Secretaries in accordance with the law."
Others featuring in the list are top officials of state corporations.
On the interview dates, candidates have been asked to be at the venue at least 15 minutes before the starting time.
They are required to bring among other documents and testimonials a registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) and clearance certificates from the DCI and KRA.
Members of the public are also invited to provide any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to be received on or before Tuesday ahead of the process.
