The family of the late former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut has thanked the public for their prayers during this period of mourning.
In a statement posted on the late's Twitter handle, they asked for respect of privacy as they grieve.
"The family thanks you for the love and prayers and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time," the statement reads.
Chepkut passed away on Saturday morning.
Family sources said he collapsed in his house and was rushed to Mediheal hospital Parklands where he was pronounced dead.
He has been unwell for some time and was admitted to the hospital between late last year and early this year.
The family revealed that the former MP had been battling Kidney disease for a very long time.
"A true fighter, Chepkut persevered through it all, and you loved him all through," they added.
Further, they described him as a "perfect definition of amiable, humorous and down to earth man, who mingled freely with anyone anytime".
The statement said it was Chepkut's honour to have served the people of Ainabkoi.
It added that his jokes and great articulation of debates in Parliament and witty ideas will be missed.
Chepkut served as an MP from 2017 to 2022.
He lost the seat to Samwel Chepkonga of the UDA party.
He previously served as the personal assistant of the late Nicholas Biwott.
