President William Ruto has reiterated his remarks that the presidential election results were determined by the voters.

He said his rivals, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga did not believe a "Hustler" could become the president.

"Wale majamaa walikuwa wanajifanya ati ni deep state. Niliwaambia hiyo system ni hewa, nyinyi ndio kusema. Si mimi niliwaahidi ya kwamba hakuna mtu ataiba kura zetu, si walijaribu na walikutana na sisi, " he said.

This is loosely translated to, "Those guys were boasting of being the deep state. I told them their system was hot air and you're the ones to determine. Didn't I promise you that no one was going to rig our votes, didn't they try and fail?"

The President spoke after commissioning  Komarock South primary school in Embakasi Central on Wednesday.

He expressed his gratitude to the people for voting him in and promised to work for them.

"I want to thank you so much for entrusting me with leadership... I leave you with God's blessing and the promise that we will transform Nairobi," he said.

Ruto won the elections against their closest rival Raila. His win was upheld by the Supreme Court.
