Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi has unveiled a list of ten people he intends to appoint as county executives to help him deliver on his campaign promises.

Among those shortlisted include Nancy Kirumba (Finance, ICT and Economic Planning), Bibianne Waiganjo (Education, Gender and Culture and Social Services), Margaret Ruinge (Administration and Public Services), Salome Wainaina (Housing, Physical Planning, Municipal Administration and Urban Development).

Others are Nancy Gichung’wa (Trade, Tourism, Industrialization and Investments), David Kuria (Water, Environment, Energy and Natural Resources), Samuel Kimani (Roads, Transport and Public Works and Utilities), Elias Mbuthia (Health Services), Ali Korar (Youth, Sports and Communication) and Wilfred Mwenda Kiara (Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Development).

An advert detailing when each of the nominees will be grilled by members of the County assemblies was published in the Star newspaper.

The nominees are required to present original national identity cards, academic and professional certificates and other relevant testimonials during vetting.

They are also required to bring certificates of clearance and compliance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, Directorate of Criminal Investigations; and Credit Reference Bureau.

Kiamwangi ward MCA Kung’u Smart told the Star that the assembly will do its due diligence in vetting the nominated members to ensure that Kiambu gets the best and those ready to serve.

"I have seen the list of those nominated to serve in the Wamatangi Cabinet and we will ensure that anyone with a dented image is disqualified to hold public office,” Kungu said.

He said that they will accord the governor ample time to deliver services to residents.

The ward rep pointed out that residents are waiting for better roads, clean water, an improved education system and security as promised during the campaigns and thus the governor and his team should be given time to work.

"Campaigns are over and now leaders should work together to improve lives in the society irrespective of their political affiliation and we will work with Wamatangi to ensure services reach our people and we fulfill the promises he made to voters,” Kungu said.

In a recent address, Wamatangi said that he will constitute a team that is committed to serving the people of Kiambu equally.

He launched toll-free numbers that the electorate will use to lodge complaints to his office.

Wamatangi was elected governor on a UDA ticket at the August polls to succeed former Governor James Nyoro.
