A man has been charged with stealing his friends shoes after being kicked out of his own house over rent arrears in Uthiru, Dagoretti Sub-county.

Christopher Gitau had been hosted by his friend Dennis Maina after his Landlord threw him out of the house.

Gitau had owed the landlord over Sh40,000 in rent arrears.

However, the next morning, Gitau left Maina’s house with a pair of shoes and laptop worth Sh70,000 when the host left for work.

When the complainant returned home, Gitau was nowhere to be found and the items were missing.

Maina then called the accused person who informed him that he had taken the laptop to load it with movies.

He reported the case to the police station and the accused was arrested.

Gitau denied the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Electina Rihany.

The case will proceed on October 27.
