The body of the former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament (MP) William Chepkut has arrived in Eldoret ahead of his burial on Tuesday.
The body was airlifted to the Eldoret International Airport and a procession to his home through Eldoret town is underway.
President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua are among those expected at the funeral.
He died of heart-related complications last week.
Chepkut served as the MP for Ainabkoi Constituency in Uasin Gishu County between 2017 and 2022.
In the recent general election, he lost the Ainabkoi parliamentary seat to his archrival Samuel Chepkong’a.
Chepkong’a of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) beat Chepkut, an Independent candidate.
Chepkong’a garnered 26,479 votes against Chepkut’s 13,510 votes in the August 2022 polls.
