Relatives of the two minors who have been missing for the last one week ponder their next move at Ihindu village in Naivasha. The cousins aged 14 and four year were last seen Friday last week.

Mystery surrounds the disappearance of two minors in a Naivasha a week ago, with efforts to find them hitting the wall.

The two cousins, aged 14 and four, disappeared Friday last week from their home in Ihindu village in unclear circumstances, sparking fear and anxiety.

The family has visited relatives' homes, hospitals and even police stations without any success as they appealed for well-wishers to assist.

Incidentally, the teenager, who hails from the nearby village of Magumu and who had dropped out of school, was last seen with the minor in the village on the material day.

According to the mother Lucy Wanjiru, she arrived home last week Friday in the evening to find her daughter Hilda Gathoni missing.

She said that she checked with neighbours and the school, where she was a student only to learn that she was last seen playing with her cousin.

“I thought she left with the cousin and when I called their home in Magumu, we learnt that they were not there and that the boy had dropped from school,” she said.

With tears flowing down her cheeks, Wanjiru narrated how they had searched various places without any success, adding that she held no grudge against the missing teenager.

“The boy is the son to my sister and if he is the one holding my daughter, I am asking that he returns her and we shall forgive him,” she said.

Naomi Nyambura, who is a teacher to the missing girl, said that the minor was dropped in her grandmother’s home before the teenager picked her.

The teacher confirmed that the two and other minors were last seen playing in the village before they mysteriously disappeared.

“The older sister to the missing girl was the first to realise that the two were missing and she informed the parents before a major search was conducted to no avail,” she said.

An elder, Chege Ngugi, said that they were in the dark as to what transpired, adding that the incident had been reported in the area police post.

“We don’t know if the two were kidnapped by a stranger or if it’s the teenager who has the girl as both are minors,” he said.

A senior police officer from Ihindu confirmed that a missing person report had been made and a file opened as part of their investigations.
