Lawyer Miguna Miguna on Tuesday announced his planned visit to Kisumu after his return from Canada where he was in forced exile.

In a statement, the lawyer said that he will be in the lake-side city on Friday, October 28.

"I will arrive in Kisumu on Friday, October 28th, 2022. Kenya is marwa!" he said on Twitter.

This will be Miguna, a former advisor to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's first visit outside Nairobi since his return to the country on October 20.

He had been in forced exile for about five years.

Upon his return on Thursday, Miguna was received by friends and relatives who had lined up to welcome him.

He was forced out of the country in 2018 and has since not been able to get back into the country despite several attempts.

Court orders instructing he be allowed into the country were ignored by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.

Red alerts were also imposed against him thus blocking his chances of travelling back.

The alerts were however lifted after President William Ruto took power, Miguna announced.

"The government of William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the Red Alerts Uhuru Kenyatta illegally imposed against me with the connivance of Raila Odinga.

"My arrival: October 20 at 6am. The Rule of law, fearlessness, persistence and focus have prevailed," Miguna said in a tweet on October 12

The self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader was at loggerheads with the Jubilee administration following his role in the unofficial swearing-in of then-opposition leader Raila Odinga as the People’s President.
