Former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is celebrating his 61st birthday on Wednesday.
His name "Uhuru" is from the Swahili term for "freedom", and was given to him in anticipation of Kenya's upcoming independence.
Uhuru is the fourth president of Kenya having served for two terms from 2013 to 2022.
He is the son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president. As a child, Uhuru accompanied his father to many public functions.
He is married to Margaret Kenyatta. They got married in 1991.
They have three children: Jomo, Muhoho and Ngina.
Kenyans took to Twitter to wish Uhuru a happy birthday.
"Let's all join in Celebrating President Uhuru Kenyatta on his birthday today...Happy birthday Sir," Joseph Nungari said.
"Happy 61st Birthday President Uhuru Kenyatta and many more. Kenyans are already missing you, enjoy your retirement," James said.
