The newly appointed Machakos County Executive Committee Members have been sworn in.
All ten nominees took the oath of office after they were given clean bill of health by Machakos County Assembly on Tuesday, November 8.
The swearing-in took place at Ndeti’s office in Machakos on Wednesday. Both Ndeti and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka witnessed the ceremony.
“We are committed to working within a framework of development in line with my clarion call of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” Ndeti said.
The nominees were unanimously approved after they went through rigorous vetting by the MCAs.
They are Consolata Mutisya (Devolution), Catherine Mutanu (Water, Irrigation, Environment and Climate Change), Onesmus Muia Kuyu (Finance and Economic Planning), Daniel Munyao Yumbya (Health) and Nathaniel Nganga Reuben (Roads, Transport and Public Works).
Others are Philip Mutua Kilonzo (Lands, Urban Development, Housing and Energy), Joel Nzomo (Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperative Development), Joyce Mwikali Muindi (Education), Sharon Nthoki Mutua (Trade, Industry, Tourism and Innovation) and Onesmus Muasya (Gender, Youth, Sports and Social Welfare).
Victor Muya Ndambuki has been approved as the new County Secretary.
The list of the approved nominees was later presented to Governor Wavinya Ndeti by Speaker Ann Kiusya.
Ndeti thanked the county assembly for approving all her nominees. She termed the approvals as major step and achievement for her administration.
"Speaker, I want to thank you so much, you have approved for us the CECs. I had a heavy workload but from now it will be lighter," Ndeti said during a public participation meeting at Kyumbi Town in Mavoko sub-county on Tuesday.
"You also told me that when you were vetting them, you realized that they are people who can work. I want to assure you that they will deliver and they like people, " Ndeti said.
Ndeti said as the county's executive, they will effectively serve the public.
She assured the county assembly of support and cordial working relationship during her five-year reign.
