Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said that Siaya Governor James Orengo should run for the presidential office in 2027.
In a statement on Monday, the political analyst said Orengo can make history just like President William Ruto.
"I think Jimmy Orengo should run for president in 2027. He has the Jaluo Panache. I like this guy. Ruto has shown us that impossible is nothing," he said.
Orengo is a senior lawyer and politician who has served Kenyans in many different capacities.
He was elected as an MP for Ugenya constituency in a by-election in 1980, making him the youngest MP at age 29.
Orengo was again elected as an MP in December 1992 on a Ford-Kenya ticket and was re-elected in December 1997.
He made his first stab contesting for a presidential seat in 2002 on a Social Democratic Party ticket but came fourth.
In 2013, he was sworn in as the Siaya senator and got re-elected in 2017.
Orengo was also appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio leader Raila Odinga as part of the taskforce team to implement the Building Bridges Initiative.
He is currently the governor for Siaya county.
