President William Ruto has said in the next five years, at the minimum Kenya must move from five per cent of processed tea to 50 per cent.
Ruto was speaking on Tuesday when he met with the Kenyan community living in South Korea.
"In the next 10 years we should be processing every gram of tea leaving Kenya, in line with growing our economy" he said.
The Head of State said the move will not only double the value of tea but also triple the number of jobs created.
He encouraged the community to continue sending great ideas home because once the country wins, they all win.
"We will deliberate on what we are going to do and I want to promise you that we are going to work together," he said.
"We will continue to have a robust engagement and see how we can open channels of communication to build this together."
He added Kenya will engage the South Korean government to unlock opportunities in technology, trade, investment and maritime operations.
"We have about 300 Kenyans in South Korea, the next time I come to South Korea I hope we will have 10,000 Kenyan youth working here," he said.
Ruto is in the country for a three-day state visit on the invitation of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
He was accompanied by Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi among other leaders.
