Cracks have emerged in the Kenya Kwanza coalition in Bungoma after Ford Kenya MP’s ganged up against Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.

They accused him of withdrawing from the joint campaigns and supporting the UDA candidate Mwambu Mabonga for the senatorial race.

Ford Kenya has continued to reap big in Bungoma as it has received defectors from the Azimio La Umoja team.

On Saturday, Wetang’ula received Webuye West politician Kelly Walubengo from the UDP.

Others who have joined Ford Kenya include former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khang’ati, Sirisia politician Moses Nandalwe and MCA’s allied to the Azimio la Umoja.

Speaking in Webuye on Saturday after joining Ford Kenya party, Walubengo said he has officially ditched Raila’s led coalition and joined President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

He said he made the move so that his Webuye West residents can reap big from the government.

“I have decided to work with Speaker Moses Wetang’ula so that Webuye can also benefit from the government,” Walubengo said.

In August, Walubengo presented a petition at Bungoma law courts opposing the IEBC results where the current MP Dan Wanyama was announced the winner of the Webuye parliamentary seat.

The case is still at Bungoma law court.

However, Walubengo called on his supporters to back Ford Kenya’s candidate David Wafula Wakoli to replace Wetang’ula as senator.

“We have several candidates seeking to replace Wetang’ula but Wakoli is the best option. Let’s not be confused by some few people,” Walubengo said adding that he will rally voters to back Wakoli.

Bungoma Woman MP who doubles as the Bungoma Ford Kenya chairperson Catherine Wambilianga said the senate seat belongs to Ford Kenya and it must be retained.

“This is the only seat we have in the Senate and we can’t let it go. Wakoli must win,” Wambilianga said.

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama in his reply maintains that he will firmly stand with former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga to the last minute saying that he is equal to the task.

Wetang’ula said he will crisscross the entire county together with the chief minister Musalia Mudavadi and other Ford Kenya leaders to campaign for the lion’s party candidate Wafula Wakoli.

The Speaker argues that Wakoli has served in his office as the manager and he knows everything and the roles of the senator.
