Embattled Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza on Friday shared a Bible verse from the book of Psalms verse 23 even as her fate remained in the hands of the Senate.
This comes a day after Senate confirmed to have received her impeachment motion from the county assembly of Meru.
"A psalm of David; The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters and he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake."
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies," she shared with her followers on Facebook.
The governor who was impeached this week went further to share her faith even as she faced tribulations.
"You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Kawira became the first county boss to be impeached barely three months after being sworn in.
All 67 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) present during the impeachment session voted to remove her over abuse of office claims.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot has assured residents of Meru County they will be accorded what is best for them following Mwangaza’s impeachment.
Cheruiyot said the Senate will have a special sitting next week to listen to the matter and determine what is best for the “great people of Meru.”
“Well, duty calls must be responded to,” the Kericho senator said.
Meru residents have already started collecting signatures to dissolve the county government.
The initiative is led by Gakii Mbui, who unsuccessfully vied for the Woman rep seat in the August polls, former Nkuene MCA Nick Mburugu and politician Kaborio Mworia.
On Thursday, the three said they have so far collected 90,000 signatures which they intend to forward to the Senate.
