The maiden direct flight from Dubai to Mombasa arrived with tourists on Friday at the Coastal city.
This comes a day after the national carrier KQ launched the flights.
The visitors were welcomed by Tourism PS John Ololtuaa and his counterpart from the State Department of Culture and Heritage, Ummi Bashir.
"The direct flight is a deliberate move to position Kenya for in-bound arrivals from the United Arab Emirates market, both for leisure and business," a statement from the Ministry of Tourism said.
It said the new route will not only position Mombasa as an important global tourism hub, but also connect Kenya and the UAE for tighter relations as we open up new opportunities for tourism, trade, and business.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua presided over the launch of the direct flights on Thursday.
It will cost up to Sh37,925 to fly from Mombasa to Dubai.
"It is a fare promotion for a return ticket for the flight departing on December 15," KQ chief commercial and customer officer Julius Thairu said during the launch.
Kenya Airways said it will operate the Mombasa-Dubai route four times a week; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
KQ currently operates ten weekly flights to Dubai from Nairobi.
"With this flight, KQ will increase its frequencies to Dubai to 14 times per week," a statement from the carrier said.
