Kenyans on Twitter have called the attention of the DCI to a clip doing rounds online of a man giving alcohol to a child, and demanded his arrest.

In the undated clip, an unknown man is seen pouring alcohol into a tumbler and asking his son to take a shot, which the minor does.

"Piga shot baba," he says while giggling. The boy gulps the tot and grins with satisfaction, an indication that it's something he is likely used to.

It is prohibited to sell, serve or supply alcoholic beverages to anyone under the age of 18 years.

A section of KOT wondered how such a young child, aged about three years, can take undiluted alcohol without flinching.

"This is not funny at all," Humprey Maina said.

"The Dept of Children Service should pick up this matter expeditiously," another user quipped.

"No way, that guy should be arrested. Arrest this guy this is an offence," were the calls that dominated the discussion.

But whereas some Kenyans saw the incident as a demonstration of poor parenting, others saw nothing wrong with it.

"Sometimes we need to let people have fun. That was just a few drops of William Lawson, a very sweet whisky. My dad would do this with me on Tusker and I’m not an alcoholic," a user by the name @REALSarafina21 said.

"You can correct me. But I don't see anything wrong. It's just a few drops. At this age, we used to be given small amounts of chang'aa occasionally to treat the flu, and sometimes as rewards. We grew up being used to it so much that in our adulthood it was no longer an excitement to us," added @duncough.
