President William Ruto has named several measures undertaken by the government regarding the terms of employment, conditions of service and welfare of police officers.
Ruto spoke about the recent changes he had made in the police service to make things better.
"I recently appointed a task force to review the conditions of service for the police and prison officers," he said in Embakasi on Wednesday.
"Their report and recommendations shall chart a clear and actionable path to significant improvement of the terms of service and employment of our policemen and women and prison officers."
Ruto also said police will now access health coverage before the end of January.
"The provider of health insurance coverage has been competitively contacted to ensure that all police officers and their families have access to high-quality medical services including mental health and psycho-social support," he said.
He said they also considered police in the affordable housing project to give them and their families a conducive environment.
"We have identified police officers as priority beneficiaries of the affordable housing project to ensure that members of the service lead dignified lives in clean, spacious, safe and secure houses," he said.
"This will go a long way in delivering our pledge to address the housing shortage facing members of the police service."
