Three boys were killed in a fire incident in Nairobi’s Korogocho slums on Monday.

Police said the boys aged 14, 12 and eight were asleep when the fire broke on Monday morning.

Witnesses said the parents of the victims had travelled out of town when the incident happened.

Police said the victims were burnt beyond recognition and property of unknown value was destroyed.

The fire also destroyed other houses near the scene.

Police said the incident increased to six, the numbed of children so far killed in separate fire incidents in the city in the past three days.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said the cause of the fire is yet to be known.

He added that experts had been sent to the area to help in the probe.

“The fire broke out past midnight burning down the house where the boys were. We are yet to establish the cause of the fire,” he said.

The charred remains of the boys were moved to the mortuary.

On Sunday, three other children were burnt to death in Kayole and California slums. Investigations into the incidents is ongoing.

Officials say lack of access roads to most slums hinders effective emergency response. This contributes to such fatal incidents.

Meanwhile, more than 100 structures were burnt down in a fire incident in Mukuru slums.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known.

Officials said several people were left homeless in the incident.

Those affected have appealed for help to rebuild their structures.

Also, a man was lynched by a mob on claims he and his accomplice stole three spades and a metal grill at a construction site in Njiru.

Police discourage against lynching and term it criminal. They want suspects arrested and surrendered to authorities for processing.

Up to ten suspects are killed by mobs in a week in the country.
