The government will be updating Kenyans monthly on the status of the economy and the plans in place to revive it, Trade CS Moses Kuria has announced.

Kuria said the engagement dubbed ‘Biashara Monthly Update’ is aimed at updating the media which will in turn convey the information to the public.

The engagements, he noted, will also have panelists who can help the country unravel the various economic issues.

Kuria spoke Tuesday during the first meeting with journalists.

“We will also be hosting my colleagues from other ministries because the issue of reviving the economy is not an issue of one ministry,” he said.

The country’s economy according to President William Ruto is in a 'dilapidated' state and requires time to be fixed.

“I have decided that before doing all other things, I will give first priority towards rebuilding the foundation of our economy. All of you know that our economy was unstable. The former regime was using 65 per cent of our revenue to pay loans worth Sh1.4 trillion a year," he said during an event last month.

The CS has noted that his ministry is open to collaborating with strategic partners who can contribute to turning the country into an economic hub.

“My ministry will work with private sectors and other players to create an enabling business environment in order to enhance our goal competitiveness, industry, sustainable development and for the growth of our great country and African region,” Kuria said during a past event.
