Murkomen condoles Magoha family at Lavington home

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday joined the growing list of dignitaries who have visited the late Education CS George Magoha's Lavington home to condole with the family.

Magoha died suddenly on January 24 at Nairobi Hospital where he was rushed after he collapsed while at home.

"The late Prof. Magoha was a revered statesman, an accomplished academic and an excellent performer," Murkomen said.

He revealed that his friendship with Magoha dates back to his time as a student at the University of Nairobi during the professor's reign as the institution's vice-chancellor.  

"Our friendship began during my time as a student at the University of Nairobi at a time when he was the DV Chancellor,  and grew stronger since then," Murkomen said.

Magoha, who left behind a son and only child Michael, will be buried on Saturday, February 11 at his rural home in Gem, Yala, Siaya county. 

"Let us continue praying for the family even as they prepare to lay him to rest. May God rest the soul of Prof. Magoha in eternal peace," Murkomen said.

Other dignitaries that have so far condoled with Magoha's family at the Lavington home include Deputy President Rigasthi Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his former Cabinet.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga, fellow principal Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho also delivered their condolences in person at the home.
