The Catholic Diocese of Nakuru will be welcoming a new head after an appointment by Pope Francis.
Pope Francis on Wednesday appointed Reverend Father Cleophas Oseso Tuka, as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru.
According to the Holy See Press Office, before the appointment by the Pope, Reverend Cleophas served as vicar general and parish priest of Saint Augustine church in Bahati, Nakuru.
Reverend Cleophas has served as a priest for 27 years.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, Archbishop Bert van Megen, sent an official communication to the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops communicating the appointment by the pope.
“I have the honour and pleasure to inform you that His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed the Reverend Father Cleophas Oseso Tuka, as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru. The Bishop-elect hails from the clergy of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru,” the letter read.
In a similar announcement, the pope elevated the apostolic vicariate of Isiolo to a diocese, with the same denomination and territorial configuration.
He also appointed Bishop Anthony Ireri Mukobo, I.MC., who was the titular bishop of Rusguniae and vicar apostolic of Isiolo, as the first bishop of the diocese of Isiolo.
