Pastor Dorcas Gachagua on Thursday called for testing of alcohol in the market for harmful substances.
She said the move will help save the boy child from poisonous alcohol in the market.
Speaking during the burial of her sister-in-law, Nancy Muthoni in Gatanga Constituency in Murang'a, Pastor Dorcas said that some of the alcohol in the market was dangerous and unfit for human consumption.
"The alcohol can be checked at distilling zones to ensure that what is in the market is fit for human consumption, and those producing poisonous alcohol imprisoned to protect lives," Pastor Dorcas said.
Pastor Dorcas has included the plight of the boychild in her national agenda.
She was supported by some of the leaders who had attended the burial.
The leaders pledged their support for the boy child program under the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President (OSDP).
"We must take care of the boy child since he is the carrier of the seed for future generations and the nation. As a woman, and together as women, we must say enough is enough to our sons staggering under the influence of alcohol and drugs," Pastor Dorcas.
“We will say no to our children taking poison in the name of alcohol, and addictions that are causing families to break up. If we must change as a country, we must save the boy child.”
Some of the leaders who supported her agenda for the boy child included MP Eric Wamumbi (Mathira), MP Alice Nganga (Thika), MP Mary Wamaua (Maragua), and Muranga Woman Representative Betty Maina.
MP Wamumbi said alcoholism was killing the people of Mount Kenya at their most productive age.
MP Nganga asked Pastor Dorcas to fight against the vices affecting boys and men and the increased cases of cancer among males.
MP Wamaua said:
“We are also behind you as women in the fight for our boychild against alcoholism that has destroyed the lives of our young men. The Deputy President will not be able to lead the Mount Kenya region when our young men are dying from alcohol and drug abuse.”
All the leaders present pledged their full support of DP Rigathi as the Mount Kenya kingpin.
The leaders also said they would work together in improving the market for coffee, tea and milk under the leadership of the DP.
