Police officers are among those lined up to be questioned in a probe into the death of interior designer Geoffrey Mwathi.

According to police records, Mwathi fatally fell from the 12th floor of a residential building called Redwood Apartments, around Safari Park Estate, in Nairobi on February 22

Officials from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s homicide unit are reconstructing the scene as part of the investigations.

Also lined up for more questioning is Mugithi singer DJ Fatxo, who is a person of interest in the case. The 23-year-old interior designer, popularly known as Jeff, reportedly fell to his death while visiting DJ Fatxo.

At least three other people who were in the house when the incident happened on February 22 are set for further questioning. The singer has denied any wrongdoing in the incident.

DCI Mohamed Amin said the team is making good progress and urged for patience.

“When done, we will make recommendations to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions,” he said.

The investigation team has revisited the scene twice as part of the probe.

On Monday, a group of supporters of Jeff staged a protest at the scene where his body fell from the 12th floor of a residential house behind USIU in Kasarani.

The group demanded speedy probe to ensure justice is delivered.

Police say a postmortem report on Jeff's body is guiding them.

The team said they found disturbing issues on the body amid claims of assault.

According to police records, Jeff fell from the 12th floor of a residential building.

Some are claiming suicide but his mother has rejected those claims.

Jeff was at DJ Fatxo's house after spending the night partying with the popular Mugithi singer alongside his cousin and driver.

Officials say Jeff had met the singer hours earlier for an interior design job and he had been promised a downpayment to begin work that same morning.

After the business meeting had wrapped up, Jeff joined DJ Fatxo for drinks and merry-making as they hit more than three clubs in one night, eventually ending up at Redwood Apartments a few minutes past 3 am.

A few minutes after 5am, Jeff was captured on CCTV cameras falling from the singer's house window to his grisly death.

The DJ said he is working with police who are investigating the mysterious death.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Friday said he had instructed Amin to send a homicide team from DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action.

The DJ said he is among those who went to report to the police when he arrived home and found Jeff missing.

He said he had stepped out of the house and left Jeff with other guests who were there but when he came back he didn’t find him.

It was then he realised he had fallen off in a suspected suicide.

Before launching his music career, DJ Faxto was a disc jokey who played at small-time establishments around Ruiru before he got his big break at KU TV where he was the resident DJ.

He was also a regular at some of Ruiru's most popular night spots.

But it is while at KU TV that he met the now-defunct Sailors Gang, a Gengetone group which made him their official DJ.

His stint with Sailors Gang was, however, short-lived. During that time, the DJ's singing bug bit him and a surprise music career would be born.
