Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has accused a section of President William Ruto's allies of ethnic incitement ahead of Azimio's mass action on Monday.
He made reference to social media posts by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah and CAS nominee Dennis Itumbi that the Azimio camp under Raila Odinga's leadership plans to invade businesses owned by members of the Kikuyu community.
"Seems like the Kenya Kwanza team met yesterday (Wednesday) and agreed that they must try so hard to make this a Kikuyu vs Luo so as to remove Kikuyus from Azimio and incite ethnic animosity. Bwana Ruto, your team is engaging in ethnic incitement and we see it. Stop it," Alai said in a tweet.
Ichung'wah on Wednesday claimed in a tweet that Raila wants to "punish our businesses over Mt Kenya's refusal to support him".
Similar claims were made by Itumbi in a Facebook post which he attributed to the Hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau (HNIB).
In the post, Itumbi claimed that Raila met Luo Nyanza MPs at the home of one of the MPs in Karen to plan for the Monday mass action.
He said they planned for a Road Show in Nairobi on Saturday and Sunday to mobilise supporters for the demos and destructive chaos.
"The plan is to invade "Kikuyu" business in Riveroad, Tom Mboya and Moi Avenue...So as to drive police to that side as the second group uses the Sagret route to access State House," Itumbi wrote.
In a quick rejoinder on Thursday, Raila dismissed the claims as total nonsense and assured members of the Kikuyu community that their businesses will be safe all through the street protests.
He denied the allegations that he held a meeting to plot an invasion of businesses saying he has no intention to destroy any kind of business.
"Nataka wafanyibiashara wakikuyu wasiwe na wasiwasi yoyote. Wasihangaishwe na hiyo porojo, sisi tutalinda biashara ya kila mtu," he added.
(I want Kikuyu businessmen not to be scared. Let them not be disturbed by the propaganda, we are going to protect everyone's business)
Raila's itinerary released on Tuesday shows that he would not have any political activity over the weekend.
It indicated that he would have a rally in Nakuru on Thursday before heading to Kiambu County on Friday.
The ODM leader said businesses belonging to the Kikuyu business community will be protected since they equally voted for him.
"Sisi hatuwezi kuharibu biashara ya mtu yeyote. Sisi tunataka kuboresha uchumi. Tunataka kueneza ajira kwa wakenya, hatuwezi kwenda kuharibu biashara ya mtu mdogo."
(We cannot destroy anyone's business. We want to improve the economy. We want to create employment for Kenyans, we cannot go and destroy businesses belonging to small people)
Fears of a disruptive mass action on Monday may have been ignited following Wednesday's episode where rowdy Azimio supporters stormed a Communication Authority of Kenya event in Kisumu and ate food meant for delegates.
They left a trail of destruction including broken plates forcing organisers and exhibitors at the event to prematurely end the function in a huff.
The event was in celebration of World Consumers' Rights Day.
The demonstrators stormed the venue to seek an audience with ICT and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo but he was not there.
They accused Owalo of being used by President William Ruto to destabilise the Nyanza region and go against Raila.
