United Democratic Alliance party secretary general Cleophas Malala has threatened to lead demonstrations to Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s Karen home on Monday.
Malala said he will lead the party’s members and President William Ruto’s supporters to the ODM chief’s home if he leads his planned Monday demonstrations to State House.
“Because I have heard that he plans to lead demonstrations to State House. Raila, you think you have the monopoly of numbers. You must know that State House is a protected area,” Malala said.
He spoke during the UDA delegates meeting at Machakos University on Friday.
“So, you Raila we have told you that since you have said you will be demonstrating to State House, I as the secretary general will also take our party members to demonstrate to your home in Karen as you go to disturb our president in State House,” Malala said.
Malala said all UDA members and those who love the president will wake up early Monday morning and go to Raila’s home.
“We are telling Ida Odinga, to prepare enough tea and ugali. If you think you have the people, you will see the government has more people than you,” he said.
“On Monday, the secretary general will go visit Ida at her home, we will also hold peaceful demonstrations since you have declared you will be holding peaceful demonstrations at State House,” Malala said.
He said Raila should know that the State House is well-guarded, unlike his home.
“Let him prepare, and he should know that State House has GSU, Recce and military. Raila, who do you have in your home,” Malala said.
Malala said the Constitution demands that Kenyans must be allowed to picket.
“Right to demonstrate is in our Constitution. The Constitution states that we must allow Kenyans if they want to protest. As the UDA secretary general, we have said we will allow the demonstrations since it’s in the Constitution,” Malala said.
Malala urged the Kamba community to refrain from the Azimio demonstrations and instead support the government.
He said they should reject being politically misled by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Kambas, listen to me and listen well. I know that people get to political parties so that they form the government. So that they get to the government.
"You shouldn’t be cheated to join a party that won’t support the government. If Ruto was chased out of government, contested against the system, deep state, dynasties and the entire government, military, and chiefs and defeated all of them while out of power. Now that he is the president, he has the police and chiefs, do you think he can be defeated in 2027 while in power?” Malala said.
Malala said Kambas shouldn’t join political parties that can’t form the government.
“It’s time for you to know that Ruto will be president for ten years. If someone tells you to join Wiper, ask them when the party will form the government,” Malala said.
